The Rhizome continues to sail along in the deep blue waters. The remoras now swim near a porthole for Venetia's quarters, attracted vibrations coming from within it. The word balloons here are lyrics from music playing on the phonogram in Venetia's quarters.
PHONOGRPAH: GONNA FIND YOU,
PHONOGRAPH: GONNA FIND YOU!
CAPTION: POWER.
CAPTION: WHY ELSE WOULD I KILL HIM SO QUICKLY?
CAPTION: IT MAKES ME FEEL IN CONTROL. THE HEX MADE ME SO FAST THAT MY CONSCIENCE COULDN’T KEEP UP.
PANEL 2
Venetia is alone in her quarters, listening to the phonograph as it spins a record. She is contemplating her situation deeply. The LP she is listening to is Operation Ivy's Energy.
PHONOGRAPH: SAW A CIVILIZATION WHERE GRABBING ONTO WEALTH,
PHONOGRAPH: WAS THE ONLY GUARANTEE OF FREEDOM PEACE AND HEALTH,

In the next room, Pniaki lays on his cot trying to sleep. The music from Venetia's next-door room is coming through his wall. Pniaki has an annoyed grimace on his face.
PHONOGRAPH: DOLLAR SIGN VALUE SYSTEM UPHELD AS THE TRUTH.
PHONOGRAPH: AND IF YOU CAN'T FIND A PLACE ITS GONNA FIND YOU.

Back in Venetia's room, she holds up another vinyl record. This is the crudely hand made record that was found in the phonograph last issue. Our view is just over her shoulder so we can see it up close as she looks at it. We can see the scratched writing around the center that says: "A HUMAN'S FIELD GUIDE TO THE NEW WORLD — SWIZ."
CAPTION: I DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M DOING HERE. WHAT IS MY PURPOSE?

Venetia is now listening intently to the handmade record on the phonograph.
PHONOGRAPH: WHILE IT ORIGINALLY SEEMED LIKE I SHOULD BEGIN THIS FIELD GUIDE WITH THE FIRST SPECIES I ENCOUNTERED, I HAVE DECIDED INSTEAD TO DESCRIBE THE ONES THAT MOST RESEMBLE MY OWN PEOPLE – HUMAN BEINGS.
